TRUSTEES
Brett Jones – Chairman
Brett Jones is pastor to the cession|community, a faith community exploring the role of the arts and media as vehicles for encounter with truth. He is currently National Secretary to the network of Wesleyan Methodist churches in New Zealand.
In his former life, Brett practiced as a lawyer for 10 years and developed specialties in Media and Trust law. He worked as an instructor with the Institute of Professional Legal Studies for 5 years, during which time he was involved with the development of training videos and a computer-based distance education course. Brett continues to moonlight as a scriptwriter – his recent projects include marketing, safety and corporate video projects. In 2004, Brett graduated with an MBA (Henley) majoring in the management of Non Profit Organisations.
Scott Kelso – National Director and Trustee
Scott is the co-founder of the 1914media trust and currently heads up the working of the trust and ensures that the direction of the board is put into action.
Scott spent 7 years within the radio industry working for companies such as the Radioworks and the Radio network and Rhema broadcasting group. He has gained a BA in screen and media at Waikato University and tutored video production modules where he developed a love for education. Scott has field directed and produced for Shine TV and been involved in News production with TV3. He has produced documentary and television, commercial productions for Life fm, family first lobby and has produced short film productions for festivals and as part of the exploration of film and culture for his Church community. Scott Currently works for the News and Current affairs department at Rhema Broadcasting Group, producing television and radio news content.
Greg Buckley – Trustee
Greg Buckley is co-founder of 1914media trust and currently leads the creative video team of cession community, a faith community that tackles and challenges responses to media and popular culture within the context of faith. He has worked as an account manger in the advertising industry specializing in radio and television. Fostering a love of visual media Greg has been / is involved in the development of a number of film and television projects including a directorial role of a documentary involving Auckland’s homeless community. Greg also has a passion for new media.
Having come from a background of education, spending 2 years running leadership and personal development programs in South Auckland schools, Greg continues his passion for developing potential, through ongoing tuition of primary/intermediate aged school children.
A storyteller at heart, Greg knows the power of a story. His passion is to see those with stories to tell, resourced and trained so that they may see the power and value of their story realized in today’s media savvy climate.
Katharine Phyn
Katherine is a young up and coming film-maker who spends her time crewing freelance while writing and directing low budget shorts. She has completed her Masters of Creative and Performing Arts in Directing Drama. She has been a christian for over half her life, and is constantly seeking ways to combine her heart for media with a passion to serve God. Katherine has just completed work on Power Rangers.
